Goals

  • Use conventions of various workplace genres, such as proposals, instructions, correspondence, reports, and slide decks, with understanding of how the genre conventions can be used as heuristics and as principles of arrangement. [CLO 4]
  • Apply principles of effective visual design for print and electronic presentation, including hierarchical, chronological, and spatial arrangements. [CLO 6]

The Task

For this Major Writing Project Activity, review the information required in your Recommendation Report, and write an outline for your draft.

Getting Started

  1. Review the specific list of information that your report should include (in the Scenario) and the list of required sections (in the Project Requirements) on the Recommendation Report: Assignment page.
  2. Examine the Sample Report, Figure 18.8 on pages 490–513 of Markel and Selber’s Technical Communication,  to review the document’s structure.
  3. Review Table 18.1: Elements of a Typical Report, on page 478 of Technical Communication for additional details on report structure.

Grading Process

When you submit your work, the points will be recorded in Canvas Grades immediately. I will review your answer. If I find that you did not put in appropriate effort or did not do the expected work, I will adjust your grade accordingly.
