Learning Objectives
- Identify and present a case study illustrating the application or concept of sustainability in design and construction of infrastructure.
- Become an expert in one area of sustainable infrastructure.
Project Overview
We need to look for the bright spots in sustainable infrastructure. Watch Dan Heath's video Links to an external site. to learn why bright spots matter.
For this project, you will research an infrastructure type (e.g. waste water treatment, airport, decentralized electricity grid, etc..) of interest to you. Then find an exemplary project that illustrates sustainability in more than one method we have discussed so far (e.g. positively contributes to one of the world's biggest problems and a concept within sustainability is applied).
Deliverables
Learning about successful, sustainable infrastructure will help us better copy these techniques and approaches in the future. You should create a presentation in the form of a Pecha Kucha Links to an external site..
- Presentation (80 Points). The presentation should demonstrate why the infrastructure project is a bright spot for sustainability. This presentation should follow the Pecha Kucha Links to an external site. format (example pecha kucha Links to an external site.). You get 20 slides for 20 seconds each. Set a timer of 20 seconds to each slide using powerpoint and upload your presentation. I will assign the day of your presentation following the presentation submittals. Your presentation will be evaluated by the instructor (50%) and your classmates at that time, based on the rubric below (50%).
