Drone Park Part 107 Grants
What is the Part 107?
The Part 107 certificate, or Remote Pilot Certificate, is required:

By the FAA for all drone flights for business or commercial purposes, nonprofit work, or education;

To fly a drone on Virginia Tech property, or to fly a Virginia Tech owned drone, under Policy 5820;

To borrow a drone from University Libraries.

The fee for the Part 107 exam is $175; certification lasts 2 years, and recertification is free.
Drone Park staff can provide resources and guidance to anyone upon request.
Who qualifies:
To qualify for this grant, you must:

- Be a current Virginia Tech Undergraduate student
- Email us proof of exam registration and the completed application at least two weeks before your exam date to be approved for reimbursement
What should I do?

- Begin studying for the Unmanned Aircraft General - Small (UAG) exam
- When you're ready, schedule the test on the FAA website
- Email us your application and registration. You're approved for the grant when we respond with confirmation
- Pass the exam!
- Email us proof of a passing grade, proof of payment, and the reimbursement request form to the VT Drone Park
- Get paid! You can expect reimbursement within 2 weeks of submitting the required forms
