The Task

LOLCAT introduces itselfIntroduce yourself to the class and me. Since we’re going to be working together for the next fifteen weeks or so, we should get to know one another.

Everyone in class will be able to read your answer, so please do not share any information that should be kept private.

  1. Click Reply to create a space for your answer.
  2. As a way to tell your discussion group something else about yourself, write a reply that answers the questions below. To make sure you answer each bullet point, copy and paste the questions into your reply.
    • What is your major? What do you plan to do with your degree in the workplace? Tell us about your career goal(s).
    • What are you doing when you aren’t studying or in class? Are you in clubs or Greek organizations? Do you have some hobbies? What do you like to do to stop thinking about classes?
    • What other things would you like us to know about you? Are you a veteran? a Member of the Corps? a Girl Scout or Boy Scout? an athlete? a cosplayer? a reader? a gamer?
    • What are your strengths as a writer in the workplace? What experience reading and writing in the workplace do you have?
    • What would you most like to improve about your writing in the workplace this term? Be specific (rather than “I want to be a better writer,” talk about what exactly you want to improve: “I want to learn how to connect with my audience so that I can be more persuasive.”
  3. Reread your answer to ensure that it uses business-appropriate grammar, punctuation, and spelling. You’re making an important first impression with your introduction. Feel free to include a photo or yourself or something you care about to your post.
  4. After you post your introduction, reply to three of your classmates, to get to know one another better. You can add a follow-up, make a suggestion, ask a question, or add another kind of comment. Be sure that your reply does not repeat the information others have already posted.
