SS: Spring Break Study Abroad
This study abroad course is an interdisciplinary and intersectional exploration of global food system politics with a specific focus on Cuba and Latin America. Employing a critical lens, this course will focus on the concept, experiences, and practices of food sovereignty, agroecology, and community resilience as they relate to Cuban politics, culture, and identity. Topics include but are not limited to social movement history in Cuba; food security and technology; land rights and distribution; gender and racial equity; and community mobilization for a just food system. (3H, 3C). This course will be span the semester with the study abroad component occurring over spring break: March 2-9, 2018.
