Module Overview for Week of November 5: Research Poster
Logistics Note
We will work on the same project for two weeks, so that you have time to research, write, and design your Research Poster Project. To help clarify that these next three weeks are related, the modules will have the following names:
- Project Module 9-A: Research Poster Project (Week of October 29)
- Project Module 9-B: Research Poster Project (Week of November 5) ← This Week
Overview
This week, you continue working on your Research Poster Project. Review the overview from October 29 for additional details on research posters. The Research Poster Project began on October 29 and ends on November 26, when you submit Portfolio 2.
Objectives
Upon completion of this module, you will be able to:
- Describe and understand the persuasive nature of a research poster. (CLO 4)
- Adapt and present in a visual manner the traditional workplace genre of the research report. (CLO 4)
- Analyze the rhetorical situation and determine how to adapt a lengthy written presentation into a cohesive, clear document for viewers. (CLO 1)
- Apply principles of effective visual design, including hierarchical, chronological, and spatial arrangements. (CLO 6)

Research and work on Research Poster (3–4 hours)
- Continue working on your research poster. Remember that you need to provide appropriate citations for all ideas, words, and phrases that are not your own, so keep track of exact quotations, page numbers, web addresses, and other documentation details.
Note that the dates and late penalties change beginning this week for your Peer Feedback activity. This change is necessary because students were taking advantage of a loophole to avoid posting feedback and still get credit.
If you do not post your update or draft in time for your group members to provide you feedback (by noon on Sunday, 11/11), you do not get credit for the activity.

- Read through the responses from your group members and provide support and advice. Try to help with whatever questions your group members have. You can also share anything about research projects that you feel you do well to let others in your group know how you might help them. You are not obligated to provide support and advice for any updates posted after noon on Sunday, November 11.
- Post your support and advice in the 11/08 Draft Feedback Discussion.
