Sample Sections for Recommendation Report
Project Personnel
Our team members are students within the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech who each have lived on campus in recent years.
Allison Martin is a junior in Professional & Technical Writing with a double major in Literature & Language. She plans to graduate in XXXX. As a student, she spends most of the daytime studying or going to classes, but she runs for pleasure and has time to do this only late at night. The Virginia Tech campus offers many great running routes, but at night they are not well lit and arguably unsafe. Her experience has made her concerned for her own safety and also the safety of others.
Tori Darden is a junior in Professional & Technical Writing with a minor in Medicine and Society. She will be graduating in XXXX. She participates in a sorority and often stays on campus after hours. On those days, she finds herself walking back to her car at night. After being on the campus for so many years, she is comfortable on campus but has noticed that the lack of lighting can make other individuals feel uncomfortable or unsafe. She is determined to reassure fellow students that this is a safe campus.
Savannah Daniels is a senior majoring in Professional & Technical Writing. She completed a Psychology degree from the College of Science in XXXX and will complete her English degree in XXXX. From living on campus, she has noticed the need for improved lighting in critical areas and has also heard the concerns of fellow students and faculty members. These poorly-lit areas notably impact the quality of life and safety of her fellow Hokies, and this motivates her to develop a possible solution for a growing problem.
Project Timetable
This section shows the timeline needed to complete the recommendation report.
Conclusion
Safety on the Virginia Tech campus should be a top priority. With an increase in the amount of lighting, as well as continued maintenance of the lighting around campus, students and faculty will feel safer and more comfortable to walk around campus whether they are in a parking garage, walking between buildings, or waiting for the bus.
We request your approval for our subject. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact team leader Allison Martin, amartin01@vt.edu.
Sample Sections for Informational Report for Non-Expert Readers
Project Personnel
I am not super qualified to be writing a report like this outside of just being extremely interested in the topic. I am a technical writing student, and part of the job is being able to adapt to different types of technical material. I could one day be working for an aerospace company or a nuclear research company and knowledge of subjects like this one will be helpful.
That said, I am consulting a wide variety of sources that are or were written by experts in the field. I also feel I have a really good understanding of the topic, having researched it extensively on my own time for fun.
Project Timeline
Below is a Gantt chart showing the deadlines for when work should begin and finish on the various phases of the project:
Conclusion
In this report, I hope to send the message to my audience that science and physics are always worth studying. We know so much about our universe but there’s even more to learn. Hopefully, the report will serve as a reminder to science enthusiasts that the universe is their oyster.
