Alumni Roundtable Day

Today we will continue a MGT 1104 tradition and welcome two recent alumni from Virginia Tech via Zoom. This session is intended to get you thinking in detail about your action plans for your time as a college student. In preparation for this session, you should prepare at least three questions that you would like to ask the alumni. Bring them to class on roundtable day and be prepared to take notes. There will be a quiz on the personal success factors that will be discussed in this class session.

For the 10:10am

Stephen Brager, CPA, MBA

Stephen currently works as a Staff Accountant at Kositzka, Wicks & Company (KWC), a mid-sized public accounting firm based in Alexandria, VA. His work at the firm includes the preparation of tax returns, the completion of audit engagements, and the performance of monthly bookkeeping. In February 2020, he passed the last of four section of the CPA exam and became licensed the following August. Prior to joining KWC, he held internships in the Federal Audit practice at KPMG, the Credit Risk Department at the State Bank of Southern Utah, and the Investor Relations Department at General Growth Properties (now Brookfield Properties). He hopes to continue growing in his role at KWC with the goal of becoming a partner at the firm.

In 2019, Stephen graduated from Virginia Tech with dual bachelor’s degrees in Finance and Accounting with a minor in Entrepreneurship. As a student at Virginia Tech, he was involved with SEED (a student-managed stock portfolio that benefits the Virginia Tech Foundation) and his on-campus jobs tutoring for both the Virginia Tech Student Success Center (SSC) and the Virginia Tech Student-Athlete Academic Support Services (SAASS) Center. Last August, he graduated from Longwood University with an MBA, concentration in Real Estate.

 

Abhijit Patel

Abhijit Patel is the Vice President of Marketing and Distribution Strategy at Choice Hotels, where he is responsible for global revenue growth through distribution products and third-party channels. Before joining Choice, Abhijit worked in various roles at Mars and GEICO covering product, pricing, supply chain, and operations management.

 

Abhijit earned his bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech and his MBA from the University of Maryland. He lives in the greater Baltimore area with his wife and two children.
