Asynchronous Presentations
Overview
Students can record their individual presentations as well as their group presentations either by recording it via Kaltura Capture or using their own recording program. Video presentations can then be uploaded into the course media gallery, into a discussion post for other students to view and comment, or into an assignment if you want to be the only one viewing the presentation.
Student Presentations
Students can record their video using their software of choice, through Kaltura Capture.
Students can upload their video presentations by:
- Assignment
- Discussion post (students can view and provide feedback to each other)
- Media gallery (students can view and add comments)
Note: The media gallery option is not attached to grading and so it would have to be graded manually. The media gallery option is good for showcasing students talent than for grading.
Best Practices
- Ensure students have an understanding of how to upload their video submissions as well as how to record via Zoom or Kaltura. You can always suggest a recording tool of their own.
- Provide students with an assessment rubric so they know what they are being evaluated on.
- Ensure students know where to go for technical support
- Let students know that recordings via Zoom / Kaltura can take time and to budget some processing time.
- Provide students with example presentations (if possible)
