Canvas Quiz Moderation
Overview
Canvas offers the ability to create quizzes using a variety of question types and question reuse through the building of question banks. If a student is eligible for extended time accommodations, it is the instructor's responsibility to provide that extra time for any tests or quizzes in Canvas. The quizzes tool offers an accessibility feature called Quiz Moderation, which allows the opportunity to allot extra time and/or extra attempts on a quiz for students who may need it.

Instructions
- Go to your course quizzes and click the name of the quiz.
- Click Moderate This Quiz option on the right hand of the page.

- Find the student you want to give extra time or submission to and click the Pencil next to their name.
- Give the student a number of extra attempts or extra time (if timed quiz).
- Check Manually unlock the quiz for the next attempt if the quiz end date has passed.
- Click Save.
Best Practices
- If you create a timed quiz you will be able to moderate BOTH the time and the number of attempts. Even if a student is taking the quiz, you can extend or reduce time in real-time using the blue clock icon in the moderate screen.
- IF you create a NOT timed quiz, you can only moderate the number of attempts since there is no time limit.
- Use moderate quiz instead of differentiating dates, times (gets confusing).
