This is an OPTIONAL exam, worth up to 500 points.

  • Opens: Friday, May 8 at 12:00 am (midnight).
  • Due: Wednesday, May 13 at 11:59pm. No grace period.

Material Covered

This final exam covers all of the chapters of Markel & Selber’s Technical Communication covered in the course: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 14, 16, 17, 18, 20, and 21.

The questions are randomly taken from the same test banks as the questions on the reading quizzes.

Logistics

All work and participation in this course is governed by the Undergraduate Honor System.

Please empty your cache before taking the final exam.  Your final exam may time out unexpectedly if you do not. If you experience technical challenges, contact 4HELP immediately. I cannot help with technical issues, but 4HELP may be able to.

The following characteristics apply to the final:

  • The exam is open book, open notes, open browser. However it should be your own work (e.g., not “open discussion with others in the class”).
  •  NEW  ✨ You will have multiple attempts—an infinite number of them. Take the exam over and over and over until you are happy with the points you have earned. Canvas will assign the highest number of points to the gradebook.
  •  NEW  ✨ You will have unlimited time. Take 30 minutes or take 3 hours—your choice. The only limitation is that you must finish by the deadline of 11:59PM on Wednesday, May 13. There is no grace period.
  •  NEW  ✨ Your exam will consist of 25 questions taken from the reading quizzes. Each question is worth 20 points each. Question 26 asks you to affirm the Honor Pledge. (The original version of the exam was 125 questions, worth 4 points each.)

There is no grace period for your final exam. Your final exam must be submitted by the due date (11:59 PM on Wednesday, May 13) so that I can turn course grades in on time.

Assessment

Since this final exam is optional, your grade on this final will be set to zero. If your final exam is not submitted by 11:59pm on Wednesday, May 13, the zero grade for the final exam will stand.

If you take the exam, your final exam grade (and your course grade) will change immediately once you submit your exam.
